SUNSTROKE a zest of splashes, love and sunburn.. An exhibition around the French photographer LORIEUX. Through his work LORIEUX transmits his joy for life and happiness to the viewers. A ray of sunlight that full-fills our hearts.
LORIEUX is a photography legend, master image-maker, and major presence on the international art and creative scene. After having been in the Algerian war, he enters the Studio Harcourt and starts to collaborate with Vogue and L’Officiel and realizes some of the most important campaigns for brands like Dior, Celine, Elie Saab, Azzaro.. Working with world class models including Stephanie Seymour, Karen Mulder, Claudia Schiffer, Eva Herzigova, Mila Jovovitch as well as important political figures. LORIEUX travelling the world in search of the sun, he has created a personal style featuring dazzling colour contrasts, in which fashions and the remarkable men and women seem to explode with life and light.
LORIEUX represents glamour and elegance. His lens has also captured a galaxy of international stars, great statesmen and politicians, super models. In the close circle of Andy Warhol, Jean-Daniel develops his passion for painting. Recently LORIEUX works have been acquired and included in the French Heritage collection.
“I believe, dear Jean-Daniel, that for all these years you’ve been deceiving us; anyone who describes you as a photographer is a long way the truth, for what you do is not so much as photography as painting; you have painted your era, an era that is still unfolding, and you carry on tirelessly making ‘sketches’ of the people you come across - or perhaps I should say of the people who are fortunate enough to cross paths with the performing artist that you are, an artist defined by an elegance of both soul and spirit…. Because all of the performers with whom you have shared your spirit, your gift and zest for life - Cesar or Mastroianni, Fellini, Cerruti or Peter O’Toole - will always be laughing, will always be adding splashes of color to our world, to a world that so sorely needs the colors with which you paint it. “ (Marc Levy)
